Wineries - tour independently with rental car

I saw the post below from 2009 which is exactly what I was looking for, but wanted to check to see if the information was still current since 16 years and a pandemic have passed since then. Any updates or new info? We are a family of five adults with a rental car and prefer not to be on a formal, structured tour, but rather explore on our own. We are staying in Florence and want to take a day to visit vineyards and sample local wine. Thanks for your help! We will be in Florence June 2 (evening) to June 6 (checkout) and plan to visit Uffizi on Wednesday (4th).

We are also planning to drive to Florence from Rome (airport) on the Monday 2nd, taking the day to explore along the way, and then driving again from Florence to Castle Gandolfo (south of Rome) on Friday the 6th. Any suggestion for interesting stops along the way would be greatly appreciated. Not necessarily touristy sites, but beautiful little towns or cultural events. Open to suggestions. Thanks again!

I see it is too late to offer advice for your trip as it has already passed - what did you end up doing? Also, I am not sure what you were referencing so could not check to see if it is all up to date, but generally yes, I try to check info and update the info if it no longer applies. The site has gotten huge so I am not always able to check everything in a timely manner, so if there was something that didn't work out (or things that did!), please do share!
